We offer the highest quality power brake booster restoration available, bar none. Our work has passed judging in countless national award winning cars, and we only use show quality parts and plating materials. We rebuild and restore 1964 - 1984 General Motors power brake boosters, greatly improving both their function and appearance and returning them to their near-original condition. We also detail and restore master cylinders, metering valves, distribution switch blocks and more, as well as providing pit polishing when needed. Don't be fooled into purchasing reproduction boosters when we can restore or replace your original. See our Shipping page for important preparation tips.
BRAKE BOOSTER REBUILD
Your booster will be disassembled, cleaned and inspected. The front and back of the booster will be plated in the original color, usually zinc dichromate. The booster will then be assembled with new American made rubber parts. It will then be tested to ensure proper operation. Also included with the booster restoration is replating of your master cylinder cover and metering valve bracket, along with return shipping to you.

1967 - 1970 METERING VALUES & PROPORTIONING VALVES
For metering valves, we disassemble them and plate the cast housing with gray zinc phosphate. For the hex nut on certain 1969 valves, we'll plate it in silver zinc; otherwise it’s coated with gray zinc phosphate. We install new seals and clean all internal parts, then reassemble the valve. A new rear boot is $20, if needed. This boot is a dust boot and doesn’t act as a fluid seal. For the Kelsey Hayes proportioning valve, we remove the bracket from the block and plate it in gold zinc. We remove the plug on the end and plate it with silver zinc. If the block is brass, we clean it and reassemble the unit. Note: If you don't have your own valve, we can often provide a restored original valve for most models.

For cast iron distribution switch blocks, we disassemble them and plate the cast housing with Gray Zinc Phosphate. We disassemble the valve, clean all internal parts, the cylinder bore, and reassemble them with new seals. For brass distribution switch blocks, we remove the bracket from the block and plate it in Gold Zinc. We disassemble the valve, clean all internal parts, the cylinder bore, and reassemble it with new seals.

Once you've had the master cylinder sleeved, we will detail it with a gray zinc phosphate coating or a semi-gloss black paint finish, depending on what your car had originally. Since it can be difficult to track down what models had what finishes, we ask you, the customer, to specify the finish you prefer. If your master cylinder is going to be plated with gray phosphate, you’ll have to leave the pistons out for that finish to be applied. Painted master cylinders can have the pistons installed prior to us receiving them. We finish bleeder screws in sliver zinc.

We will restore your master cylider to its original condition and appearance. We will install a stainless steel sleeve in the cylinder bore to ensure leak-free operation. $385 is the base price for restoring your master cylinder with a painted finished. Zinc phosphate plating is available for an additional $70.
